SETUP


Step 1. Connections


Connect the Mixtrack Platinum with your computer using the provided USB cable.
Connect your speakers to the rear Master Output using proper RCA cables and your Headphones to the front socket.

Step 2. Drivers


No drivers is necessary to be installed. Your Operating system will install the necessary drivers once the unit is connected to a USB port.

Step 3. VirtualDJ


Install VirtualDJ 8 from http://www.virtualdj.com/download/index.html (in case you have not done already)

Start VirtualDJ and login with your Account credentials.

A Pro Infinity, Pro Subscription or Plus Mixtrack Platinum Controller License is required. http://www.virtualdj.com/buy/index.html

Detection Window
A detection window will appear when the unit is first connected with VirtualDJ.

Click on the "Use Soundcard" button so that VirtualDJ will apply the pre-defined audio configuration (speakers need to be connected to the Master Output of the unit)

The Mixtrack Platinum is now ready to operate with VirtualDJ

1 CROSSFADER
Blends audio signal from the decks assigned as left and right sides of the crossfader.
Assign buttons are available in the 4 Decks Layout of the VirtualDJ skin
2 VOLUME
Adjust the Volume of the Left and Right assigned Decks
Starts playback of Left or Right assigned Decks when the fader is moved from the minimum (low) position to a different one and stops to Cue position when moved from any position to the minimum (Fader Start/Stop)
3 VU METERS
The LED array indicates the pre-fader Level Output of the Left and Right assigned Decks
4 PFL
Send the pre-fader audio signal of the Left and Right assigned Decks to the Headphones channel (for pre-listening)
5 BASS
Adjust the Low (Bass) Equalizer Band of the Left and Right assigned Decks
6 MID
Adjust the Mid (Middle) Equalizer Band of the Left and Right assigned Decks
7 TREBLE
Adjust the High (Treble) Equalizer Band of the Left and Right assigned Decks
8 GAIN
Adjust the pre-fader Volume (Gain) of the Left and Right assigned Decks
9 FILTER
Applies a High/Low Pass Filter to the Left and Right assigned Decks. Filter is not applied if the knob is at the middle (12 o'clock) position
10 LOAD
Loads the selected track from the Browser to the Left/Right assigned Deck
Unloads the same Left/Right assigned Deck
11 BROWSE
Scrolls through Folders or Tracks
Push to toggle focus between Folders and Songs List
Set focus to Folders list. If focus is in Folders list, expand collapse sub-folders
12 MASTER GAIN
Adjust the Level of the Master Output
13 CUE MIX
Send audio signal from the Master Output to the Headphones channel when in maximum (right) position.
Send audio signal from the Decks that have their PFL enabled to the Headphones channel when in minimum (left) position.
Blends the above audio signals when in all other positions.
14 CUE GAIN
Adjust the Level of the Headphones Output Channel


 

DECK CONTROLS

15 PLAY
Play/pause deck
Plays deck when paused. Jumps to Cue point and continues to play from there when deck is playing (play-stutter)
16 CUE
Sets a temporary Cue point when deck is paused and preview track while pressed.
Jumps and stops to the Cue point when deck is playing
Jumps and stops at the beginning of the track
17 SYNC
Matches track's tempo and pahse with the ones of the Master Deck.
Manually sets deck as Master Deck. All other decks will sync to the Master Deck.
Hold down for more than 1 second to return Master Deck selection to Auto-mode (VirtualDJ will be auto-selecting the Master Deck depending on which deck is playing out to the Master Output
18 DECK SELECT
Assign a VirtualDJ deck to the Left/Right side of the Platinum.
The left-side button toggles control between Decks 1 and 3. When the left-side button is lit, the left side of the Platinum will control VirtualDJ deck 3 and deck 1 if unlit
The right-side button toggles control between Decks 2 and 4. When the right-side button is lit, the right side of the Platinum will control VirtualDJ deck 4 and deck 2 if unlit
19 WHEEL
Toggles between Scratch (Vinyl) and Bend (CD) modes for the Jogwheel
Toggles between Elapsed and Remain Time (applies on both the skin and the LCD display
20 PADS
The 8 Performance Pads offer different functionality depending on the selected mode. See Pads

21 PAD MODE
Selects a mode for the performance Pads. See Pads
22 JOG
Touch-sensitive jogwheel for scratch, bend, loop adjust.
In Scratch mode (WHEEL button lit), use the top side of the jogwheel to scratch and the outer side to bend (temporary slow-down/speed-up).

In Bend mode (WHEEL button unlit), use the jogwheel to bend (temporary slow-down/speed-up)

In Loop In/Out Adjust modes (LOOPIN/LOOPOUT Pads blink - see Pads), use the jogwheel to fine-adjust the Loop In (Start) / Loop Out (End) points of a manual loop.
Fast search (seek) through track's time
23 LCD
Displays Track's info. See LCD below
24 PITCH
Adjust Deck's tempo (BPM)
25 PITCH BEND
Temporary slow-down/speed-up deck's tempo. Tempo will return to the value designated by the Pitch fader, once the butons are released
PitchBend (-) : Enable/disable Key-Lock (Master Tempo). When enabled, the key of the track will retain its value when the Pitch/Tempo is changed.
PitchBend (+) : Selects the next available -/+ % range for the Pitch fader



LCD JOG Display



DISPLAY

DESCRIPTION

D1 BPM
Displays the current BPM value of the track
D2 TIME
Displays the Remain (with a minus mark) or the Elapsed Time of the track. Time mode is selected with SHIFT+WHEEL
D3 SLIP
Will be displayed when the Slip mode is enabled on the deck
D4 KEY LOCK
Will be displayed when the Key-Lock (Master Tempo) is enabled on the deck
D5 PITCH ARROW
The down arrow will be displayed when Pitch has a positive value (track's speed higher than original)
The up arrow will be displayed when Pitch has a negative value (track's speed lower than original)
None of the arrows will be displayed when Pitch is at the zero/middle position (track's speed equal to original)

The arrows will blink if the actual position of the Pitch fader and the software Pitch values don't match and will indicate the direction the hardware Pitch faders needs to be moved to, in order to catch the software value.
This may happen if the SYNC button is used.
D6 DECK#
Displays the Deck assigned on the Left/Right side of the Platinum
D7 RED RING
Indicates the current track's position of the software jogwheel - shows rotation
D8 WHITE RING
Indicates the track's position in time, starting with an empty circle and ending to a full circle when track reaches its end. The white circle will start blink when track reaches 30 seconds before end

28 FX3
Single FX mode : When enabled, the FX Strip will adjust the 3rd Parameter * of the selected Effect
Multi FX mode : Triggers the selected Effect of FX Slot 3
Single FX mode : Turns the Effect Button 2 on/off of the selected Effect
Multi FX mode : Selects the next available Effect for the FX Slot 3
29 FX STRIP
Single FX mode : Adjust the 1st Parameter of the selected Effect.
When the FX2 button is enabled, the FX Strip will also adjust the 2nd Parameter of the selected Effect.
When the FX3 button is enabled, the FX Strip will also adjust the 3rd Parameter * of the selected Effect
Multi FX mode : Adjusts the 1st Parameter of the selected Effects in all FX Slots simultaneously
Single FX mode : Adjusts the 4th Parameter * of the selected Effect.
When the FX2 button is enabled, the FX Strip will also adjust the 5th Parameter * of the selected Effect.
When the FX3 button is enabled, the FX Strip will also adjust the 6th Parameter * of the selected Effect
Multi FX mode : Adjusts the 2nd Parameter of the selected Effects in all FX Slots simultaneously.
30 TAP
Tap button on tempo to manually calculate track's tempo (if incorrectly calculated by the software)
Toggle between Multi and Single FX modes
31 BEATS
Move the Beat-Grid of the track backwards/forward by 10% of the beat
Jumps track 1 beat backwards/forward per click


*Note : The Single FX mode in the default skin of VirtualDJ displays onlly the first 2 Parameters of the selected Effect. In order to see all the available Parameters of the selected Effect, use the + button to dock/undock the FX GUI in the Browser.
 

PADS


The 4 top performance pads P1 to P4 offer different functionality depending on the selected mode. Hold down the PAD MODE button (21) and then press one of the Pads P1 to P3 to set the Pads to Manual Loop, Auto Loop or Sampler mode.
Each time a Pad mode is selected for the top Pads, a special page will be selected and displayed in the Pads section of the default VirtualDJ GUI.
The lower Pads P5 to P8 offer Hot Cues 1-4 control regardless the selected mode.

Connect your Headphones using a 1/4" or/and a 1/8" cable or adapter. The Volume of the Headphones channel is controlled from the top panel of the unit
33 MIC GAIN
Adjust the Level of the Microphone input *
34 MIC SOCKET
Connect a Microphone * using a 1/4" cable or adapter
35 MASTER OUTPUT
Connect your amplified speakers using proper RCA cables. The Level of this Output is controlled from the top panel of the unit
36 USB
Connect the Mixtrack Platinum with a USB port of your computer, using the provided USB cable


* Note : The Microphone Input is directly routed to the Master Output of the Mixtrack Platinum. The input is not available in the USB Audio Interface, therefore it cannot be included in the Audio Setup nor can be recorded directly. However, recording your mix along with the Microphone Input is possible via Record LoopBack
